Chapter 1: A Deal That's... Off...

After spending her time on Earth with her grandfather, Raven returned to school. Her return didn't go smoothly however…

Upon return, she could feel something was wrong with Ombra and rushed to her dorm. When she entered, two masked people were trying to steal her. A purple haired owl masked girl and a red haired fox masked boy. They tried to flee after being caught red handed, they tried to escape. Furious and losing Control, Raven rushed after them in werewolf form and managed to maul one of the two shapeshifters. The boy had shifted in a fox but Raven had managed to get a hold of his leg. She let him go however as Ombra was still captive. Raven managed to save Ombra, but the second shapeshifter escaped. Raven let out a furious roar as she held Ombra close and started sobbing, catching the attention of many students.

The next day, it was revealed that Eon was attacked. His leg was mauled… all the suspicion went to Raven for she was the one that lost control. Eon couldn't remember what had attacked him however. Iridescence blamed Raven also. But Raven suspected the two of them of trying to steal Ombra as well… She had to keep her suspicions to herself without proof however, instead joining Hiro in the library for further research on shapeshifters and enchanted masks related to shapeshifters. It was revealed that the masks came from Kihyon Empire, Hiro’s home land. Raven also noticed a silver package next to him. Hiro explained Hunter asked him to order it because he needed it for a hunt or something like that. Too occupied with the masked bandits, Raven didn't ask further.

Feeling Raven was obviously upset, Hiro showed her something special. He took her back to Off-White’s office. Raven had been there previously that day because Off-White had called her in for her part of the story. He didn't seem bothered about the masked thieves, but was obviously displeased to hear it wasn't Raven that had mauled Eon. Something or someone else had. And he was worried about it. He also tried to hide a small vial with a translucent fluid when Raven entered. She didn't get to identify what it was however.

The entry to his office was a large painting of the school on the island. It was a magically enchanted painting however and one could change the painting to a place they knew by moving one's hand over it (Only a very few knew about this secret. (and they’d keep it that way in order for the painting to stay.))

Hiro made an old traditional asian training room appear. Where he used to train as a pup. Raven and Hiro often went there and shared stories of their past and bonded with each other in the process. On one particular night, Hiro was happy to accept Raven’s affections as he’s had feelings for her, and they found themselves in a new romance.

When they revealed their relationship to the others, all were happy for them except Hunter. The other werewolves could smell his short burst of panic before he disappeared. Nobody had seen him since then. Hiro was the only one of the pack that hadn't really warmed up to her and his behaviour was most definitely suspicious. The expressions of the other members revealed that there was something they were hiding. Raven didn't feel bothered by it this time however. It seemed personal. And painful.

Raven’s suspicions of Iridescence and Eon died as Ombra showed no further distrust or hostility towards them. Not only that, but as a werewolf, Raven’s intuition told her that the two twins genuinely didn't do it. Someone had set them up to take the blame instead… but who?

One morning, Hunter suddenly showed up after having not shown his face for days. He was his usual self, grumpy and disinterested. He weirdly enough asked Raven to join him in the forest. To get to know each other better. Raven, eager to bond with the rest of the pack, accepted and they set off in the late midday. Raven noticed on the back of her horse that Hunter had brought a backpack with him and a large katana that belonged to him and with which he was skilled. Upon asking what they were for, Hunter replied with: “You’ll see.”
